What kinds of freight does the company haul?
Our vans carry everything from paper products, batteries, water to finished retail goods like large appliances. On the flatbed side of the business we haul anything you can get on a flatbed trailer with several dedicated lanes carrying lumber, steel, coils of large cable,etc. We do not pull tankers or refers.
In what states does the company operate in the most?
Andrus vans can be seen all over the western United States from Colorado to California and Arizona to Washington. The majority of our loads are on the major freeways like I-15, I-10, I-70 and I-80. Flatbeds are another story. With terminals in Salt Lake City and Dallas, or flatbeds can be found in almost every state in the lower 48, but most frequently within about 1000 miles of each terminal.
What percent of your freight is Drop and Hook?
Our vans are almost all drop and hook, but there is the occasional live load and unload. Either way, it is all no-touch by our drivers. Flatbeds are flatbeds, so there is a large variety, but again, no touch other than the tarps and straps.
Are drivers required to physically unload freight?
No
Are drivers able to stay within a certain geographical area or are they required to run wherever the company runs?
That depends on what they are running. If they are on the OTR team, they will be running all over the eleven western states. Flatbeds on the other hand tend to run a tight regional lane, or completely OTR. That is always something the driver discusses with their dedicated driver manager.
Does your company use customer based freight or brokered freight?
Both. In some instances a customer load will take you somewhere and you will bring brokered freight back. This is all taken care as you are en route so as to minimize any wait time on your part.

That all depends on how long the extended time off lasts. A truck is not going away if you are off for a week, but if it turns into a month there is a strong possibility that the truck will be reassigned.
Are drivers able to take the tractor home with them on home time?
It all depends on the location and the type of load.

It depends on the current circumstances and coverage areas. There are enough trucks, but location may differ.
