HISTORY OF J.J. TAYLOR

J. J. Taylor Companies, Inc., now headquartered in Jupiter, FL, was founded in 1958 by John J. “Joe” Taylor in Massachusetts. The Company started as a Knickerbocker Beer distributor, servicing the greater Brockton area of Massachusetts with two trucks and nine employees. Joe Taylor used his 20 years of experience with the Jacob Ruppert Brewing Co. to serve as the foundation of the business. In 1973, the Company acquired an adjoining distributorship that had both Knickerbocker and Miller Brewing Company brands. Around the same time, Miller Brewing Company started an aggressive marketing campaign for Miller High Life. Shortly thereafter, Miller Lite was introduced, becoming the most popular original light beer in the country. In order to permit a better consolidation of brands in the state, the Massachusetts distributorship was sold in 2002.

John J. Taylor, III assumed control of the Company in the early 1980′s and today, the company operates distributorships in Minnesota and Florida.

In 1985, J. J. Taylor Distributing Company of Minnesota, Inc. acquired the beer distributorship originally known as East Side Beverage. Through a series of subsequent acquisitions the company has become the largest beer distributor in the state of Minnesota. J.J. Taylor Distributing of Minnesota, Inc. operates out of a 600,000 square foot, state-of-the-art warehouse in northeast Minneapolis. The climate-controlled facility includes 44,000 square feet of cooler storage for keg and non-pasteurized craft beer.

In July 1997, J.J. Taylor Distributing Company of Florida, Inc. acquired the local Miller distributorship in Tampa, Florida. Today, through a series of subsequent acquisitions, the company now operates in seventeen counties throughout the state. J.J. Taylor Distributing of Florida, Inc.’s operates out of a 360,000 square foot, state-of-the-art warehouse in Tampa. The climate-controlled facility includes 42,000 square feet of cooler storage for keg and non-pasteurized craft beer. Additionally, J.J Taylor Distributing of Florida, Inc. has a warehouse in Fort Myers with offices located in Fort Pierce and Sebring.

J.J. Taylor Companies, Inc. Corporate Headquarters resides in Jupiter, Florida. Using a shared services model, the company provides administrative and specialist support for accounting, finance, information technology, human resources, and training; including first class training facilities for the company’s employees.
